On October 28, 1980, Tucson Police Motor Officer James A. Smith succumbed to injuries he sustained after being involved in a motorcycle collision in Midtown Tucson. His service will not be forgotten. Police officers across Tucson are wearing mourning bands across their badges today in memory of Officer Smith and Officer Headricks.
